Wenco International Mining Systems-Hitachi Data Systems to highlight Readyline and Lumada IoT interoperability at Hitachi NEXT 2017

September 12, 2017

RICHMOND, BC, CANADA (September 12, 2017) — Wenco International Mining Systems is pleased to announce that it will be demonstrating interoperability between Wenco Readyline and the Lumada IoT platform at this year's Hitachi NEXT conference, running September 18-20 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

HitachiNEXT

Readyline is Wenco's preventive maintenance solution that captures mining equipment sensor and alarm data, analyzes it, and stores it onsite or in the cloud. Readyline integrates with Hitachi, Caterpillar, Komatsu and other mining equipment providers to allow operators to monitor and manage the reliability and availability of their equipment. Readyline has the ability to give maintenance technicians early indication of changes in performance. With that knowledge, mines are able to apply condition-based maintenance with the potential to significantly reduce costs of repair and equipment downtime.

At the Hitachi NEXT conference's Smart Mining exhibit, Wenco will demonstrate Readyline's interoperability with Hitachi's Lumada IoT platform, including several months of Readyline customer data delivered to the Lumada Core platform for viewing and analysis. Using sophisticated data analytic techniques, the Lumada data scientists were able to analyze months of vehicle sensor and alarm data to find predictors of unplanned downtime from engine overheating and drive-train failures. This sensor information was able to predict the likelihood of failures more than a day in advance, allowing Readyline to set up special "virtual sensor alarms" to look for these early warning signs.

The Lumada team will also highlight the Readyline/Lumada interoperability and customer findings during a presentation entitled "Industrial IoT Solutions for Smart Assets: The Top 5 Takeaways," on Tuesday, September 19 at 1:00 pm.

At the Smart Mining exhibit, Wenco will also demonstrate its advanced fleet management systems designed for the world's largest mines and the smallest quarries. Advanced capabilities include Fleet Awareness V2X, Wenco's safety solution that conducts automated machine-to-machine communications between mining vehicles and other equipment to warn in advance of pending collisions and other safety hazards.

"Reducing unplanned downtime for mission-critical equipment is a top priroity for our mining customers," says David Noble, vice president of R&D for Wenco. "We are excited to be able to demonstrate the real-life value of preventative maintenance solutions by integrating Readyline's data analytics at the minesite edge with Lumada's Core IoT platform."

Highly adaptable to individual uses, Lumada is a multi-tiered platform for connecting together IoT-based solutions to solve problems and deliver outcomes with better value. It takes operational data from a wide range of systems, then uses advanced analytics and artificial intelligence to make calculations with the potential for far-reaching effects across several domains of an organization.

Readyline is the Lumada platform's edge component for Smart Mining, communicating with the Lumada Core in the cloud. Together, they form a powerful IoT solution that allows customers to gather, analyze, and respond to sensor and alarm data from multiple vehicles at the mine site and across multiple sites. As mining becomes increasingly data-driven, the opportunities that emerge from deep data analysis can bring about extraordinary benefits.
