RICHMOND, BC, CANADA (April 3, 2014) — Working with Wenco's Indonesian distributor PT Hexindo Adiperkasa Tbk (Hexindo), Wenco Fleet Management Systems (Wenco) has been selected by PT Kayan Putra Utama Coal (KPUC) to install Wenco's fleet management system at their coal mine in Kalimantan, Indonesia.
Wenco has begun deployment of the first phase of the fleet management system for production monitoring and control of Hitachi excavators and haul trucks.
Hexindo is the distributor of Hitachi construction and mining equipment in Indonesia, and like Wenco is also a subsidiary of Hitachi Construction Machinery Co, Ltd. Training of Indonesian Hexindo employees for Wenco hardware and software support has already commenced, with the onsite implementation activities imminent.
"The depressed coal market is putting a lot of pressure on the region's miners and contractors to make better use of their assets. The Wenco fleet management system is assisting with crucial productivity and efficiency improvements in these challenging times," said Jayson Bebek, Wenco Regional Director, Australia & Africa.
Recognizing that high quality regional support is critical to our ongoing success, a key component of the Wenco/Hexindo strategy in Indonesia is the establishment of a fleet management centre of excellence at Hexindo's Balikpapan facility. Hexindo will provide full training, support and parts inventory from Balikpapan to ensure customers such as KPUC continue to get full value from the Wenco system throughout the life of mine.
