Wenco Appoints Dr. Emily Tetzlaff as Principal Scientist, EHS

VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA (February 21, 2025) – Wenco International Mining Systems is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Emily Tetzlaff as our new Principal Scientist, EHS. In this role, Emily will lead environmental health and safety (EHS) initiatives, supporting the integration of advanced safety and sustainability strategies into Wenco's mining solutions.

Emily brings a wealth of experience in occupational health and safety, risk mitigation, and environmental protection. With over a decade of research and practical application in EHS, she has dedicated her career to advancing workplace safety standards, particularly in high-risk industries such as mining. Her expertise includes hazard assessment, exposure monitoring, and the development of proactive risk management frameworks.

Emily holds a PhD in Human Kinetics, specializing in Human and Environmental Physiology, a Master of Human Kinetics specializing in Occupational Health and Safety, and an Honours Bachelor of Physical Education specializing in Health Promotion. She also holds university certifications in Post-Secondary Teaching and Gerontology and is a Registered Kinesiologist.

Since 2015, Emily has worked in the mining industry as a researcher and health and safety specialist, focusing on improving worker safety and well-being in challenging environments. Her recent work on heat management strategies for mine workers highlights her commitment to addressing critical safety challenges in mining operations. Additionally, her leadership in occupational health initiatives has helped organizations enhance regulatory compliance and implement best practices for workforce protection. Emily has also served as a researcher with the Climate Change and Health Office  at Health Canada, where she contributed to the development of policies addressing health risks related to extreme heat.
