Wenco is pleased to announce the publication of ISO 23725:2024 – the international standard for autonomous systems and fleet management system interoperability.
A strategic objective for the global mining industry is to establish standards to support holistic, integrated and interoperable mine operating automation that will improve mining operations efficiency. As of August 2024, the mining industry has reached a major milestone with the publication of ISO 23725:2024, a standard championed by Wenco and the mining industry since 2018. This promotes open autonomy by ensuring interoperability between autonomous systems and fleet management systems (FMS), facilitating seamless integration and effective communication.
The published international standard defines the software API, an open-autonomy interface, that is required between the FMS and autonomous haulage systems (AHS) for
- Single source of truth
- System-wide digital map and equipment location sharing
- Dispatch functionality of autonomous trucks
- Coordination and management of production
By providing a reproducible framework, this standard enables diverse systems to work harmoniously and fosters an ecosystem of collaboration, innovation and technological advancements. The publication of ISO 23725:2024 marks a pivotal milestone in progressing open autonomy in surface mining and proves the criticality of standardized protocols in driving industry-wide transformation.
